Creating the "Buggy Corral" at the rear of the school meant that we needed good access and lots of turning room to enter & exit the 3 glass garage doors that were to be installed. Unfortunately, the service driveway at the rear of the school was too small.
The first project was to widen the driveway by about 25 feet.
Installing drainage for the wider driveway.
The perforated Big "O" is connected to the non-perforated Big "O" roof drainage system which leads to the roadside ditch.
The wooden stakes were used to pin up the landscaping cloth while Big "O" was installed.
3-6" stone was used for the base, followed by 3/8 crusher run. Then covered with stone dust.
About 160 tons of rock, crusher run and stone dust were applied.
Creating the wider driveway required excavating into the grassy area behind the school. The drive was about 12-14" lower, so we decided to build a retaining wall.
The 48 tons of wall stone came from Jackson Quarry.
Once stones were placed, they were back filled, the area was leveled and landscape dragged to remove stones and debris from the topsoil.
My tractor earned its living.
Job done.
This shows the completed wall before the drive was top dressed with stone dust.
Here we are starting to remove the access roadway next to the deck. The next phase is landscaping the backyard.
